Vital Proteins Bone Broth Review: Compare Vital Proteins to Bluebird Provisions

Most Vital Proteins Bone Broth reviews are shady attempts to sell you more collagen. Not this one.

These reviews have one thing in common: a vested interest in selling more Vital Proteins.

This one is the opposite. Why? Because my brand makes and sells our own line of instant bone broth powder.

And for that reason, we like to write honest reviews of our competitors’ versions to help you understand how they compare to ours.

“How do you remain unbiased when selling a similar product?” you may be asking. The answer is by:

  1. Looking at objective criteria in our reviews: ingredients, nutrition facts, and price.
  2. Surveying real customer reviews from the most reputable source of consumer product feedback, Amazon.

When it comes to ingredients, Vital Proteins Bone Broth is actually one of the better powder versions on the market.

There are some things we don’t love about their products too.

Vital proteins amazon feedback

Here are the three most popular Vital Proteins Bone Broth positive reviews on Amazon:

I like this added protein version, but it's hard to mix

This is an excellent additive for hot drinks that adds almost no flavor to them, so it's fine for breakfast coffee or tea, or to stir in to hot foods.

I was vegan and diagnosed with Lyme recently so for a 8 years vegan going to cow beverages it took a lot of courage to try and this is the only version my body wants it smelled like puke at the beginning like all animal products digust.. but I got acquainted to it now im looking forward to it. I think its the cleanest beef bone broth we can find.

Everyone speaks about taste but the healing benefits are amazing. It helps restore the digestive system and people with ibs epstein barr and lyme can really benefit from it.

What about the taste?

The three most negative Vital Proteins reviews which are also the most recent on Amazon are:

This product is not what I expected and am now stuck with it as I cannot return and exchange for another flavor. The smell, quality and taste is less than ideal. Unfortunate b/c we like all other Vital Proteins versions. I wouldn't even give one start, but am forced to give it at least star.

Undrinkable! The flavor is disgusting. I've had other bone broths from Amazon that taste fantastic. I can hardly bear to smell this one.

smells bad and if you can get past that it tastes gross also...worst version ever

Is Vital Proteins the best bone broth for collagen?

Vital Proteins is not the best bone broth for collagen because there are other options with more collagen. They do not list the exact amount per serving, so it is difficult to tell. Brands like Bluebird Provisions have 11 g per 13 g serving. So you would be best to use that version for optimal health benefits.

Summary: What we Love / Don’t Love About Vital Proteins

What we love about Vital Proteins Bone Broth:

  1. Simple ingredient list with no gums, fillers, preservatives or sweeteners.
  2. Balanced nutrition profile with mostly protein and low sodium.
  3. Quality sourcing.

What we don’t love about Vital Proteins Powder Beef Broth

  1. Concentrates as the main ingredient. These are typically higher processed forms of bone broth powder
  2. Lack of hydrating electrolytes with only 160 mg potassium per serving.
  3. Mixability: many reviewers mentioned this it does not mix well which is bad for your health.

Vital Proteins makes a decent product, but you can find a better version for your money. Bluebird Provisions Instant Powder is a superior option due to the electrolytes and lower cost per serving.

You can also find their products on Amazon.

Should I drink powdered organic bone broth?

You do not need to drink powdered organic bone broth. You can drink conventional, provided that it is grass fed version, non-gmo and comes from quality sources. You are best to check with the brand you are considering to see exactly where they are sourcing their products from. This will allow you to make an educated decision for yourself.

Is bone broth collagen healthy?

Bone broth collagen is healthy because you are getting important amino acids glycine and proline. These two amino acids are lacking in a standard Western diet because we do not eat nose to tail.

It is important to prioritize getting enough collagen containing foods in your diet to support healthy skin, proper digestion, sleep, brain health and joint health.

How long does it take collagen from bone broth to work?

You will notice the collagen from bone broth working in the first few days. Your digestion will get better and you'll feel better throughout the day. Skin benefits take a bit longer to take effect, up to 8 weeks of regular use.

Joint healing benefits often take up to 8 weeks to see effects as well. It is important to not that these are not miracle cures, and they're best used in conjunction with proper nutrition and lifestyle.

Does Vital Proteins collagen cause weight gain?

Vital Proteins collagen will cause weight gain if you are in a caloric surplus. It is pretty simple. But if you are not eating excess calories, then it will not cause you to gain weight. Many people end up losing weight when they consume collagen because it helps with your gut health and digestion.

Is bone broth high in collagen?

Bone broth should be 90-95% collagen by weight. This is because it contains gelatin which has the same amino acid profile. The only difference is that gelatin will solidify or gel at fridge temperature. This is the hallmark of a quality product. Gelatin is simply a cooked form. Since bone broth is cooked for so long it turns to gelatin.

"Amazing!

Great taste and texture. Will be purchasing this again. Works great on its own for sipping and also in soup!"
